it appears as though she should make an easy lead...[/quote]
Actually she came from slightly off the pace for the 2nd time in a row.
I could be wrong but it always appeared to me that as horses get older, they learn to rate better.
That sorta true?
From SAX Stakes quotes:
BRICE BLANC, A JEALOUS WOMAN, WINNER: (In response to having to move early) “When I made the decision, I knew she would quicken for me and keep that steady run going. She’s not one of those fillies that have a quick acceleration but she has a steady, long, fast run. So we . . . Francis (Meza, the trainer) and Eddie (Meza, her husband) have been working to get her to come down a little bit. She was way too fast early on, and didn’t finish quick enough. This whole year has been a great experience for her and for me as well. She is a nice filly to ride.
I thought she would go gate-to-wire in a paceless field..it turned out she showed the dimension to stalk the pace and win...Indeed as she is getting older, she is rating a bit... The pace didn't play out as it appeared it would on paper, did you (or anyone) think In the Stars would be in front?
No, CB...I actually thought she and Lady Ten would duke it out....but she DID stalk last time but ended up second....I thought that was a fluke...when she stalked again yesterday I was like WTF??? She showed a dimension I never knew she had.....
