Re: Hollywood Park's future to be presented to CHRB ThursdayDoes the state even make a serious profit on racing anymore compared to years gone by?
Re: Hollywood Park's future to be presented to CHRB ThursdayMy money is that they will announce that the upcoming summer meet will be the final meet. There is no reason they would not have annnounced already if they were going forward with racing in the Fall...
Re: Hollywood Park's future to be presented to CHRB Thursday
I'm sure it does.Look at the churn DM makes every season.Remember in California all money coming into the state is funneled asap into the general fund. While the fairgrounds does not send any money to Sacramento, the state does receive $9 million to $11 million each year as a percentage of bets placed on horse races at the Del Mar track, along with employment, sales and other taxes, Fennell said. http://www.delmartimes.net/2010/11/30/d ... the-money/
Re: Hollywood Park's future to be presented to CHRB ThursdayI can see one of three things happening tomorrow:
1. propose a plan of 1-2 years (2013-2014) maximum of live racing and training on the property. 2. continue to operate as a racing plant short term, but not run a fall race meet. 3. continue switch and bait process with CHRB regarding the future plans.
Re: Hollywood Park's future to be presented to CHRB Thursday
If they are going to remain open, why WOULDN'T they run a fall meet????
Re: Hollywood Park's future to be presented to CHRB ThursdayI telling you all, it will never close for several reasons, they're looking for a new buyer to support horse racing and there will be to many law suites filed to keep it open,
