This troubled world is sighing now,
La grippe is at the door;
And many folks are dying now
Who never died before.
Anon

An old poem I found in a book years ago. For some reason I remember it-- probably because it's taking up space in my brain that should be occupied by, for instance, where I left my car keys or glasses.

"La grippe" was the Spanish Flu epidemic of 1918-19. (My grandfather died of it.)
I hate it when I don't forward chain letter and I die the next day!

Mary,

I was in a small town in Missouri and visited the cemetery, I saw graves and head stones of adults and children form that year. I never forgot it.

I've had flu like symptoms since Thanksgiving.

First week the cough, 2nd week the chest congestion, 3rd week I thought I was better after taking all kinds of OTC meds, 4th week the runny nose. I finally went to the doctor after I started to lose my hearing and I have an inner ear infection.

Right now I have had zero hearing for over a week. I hope it returns this weekend.

My wife and I had the same symptoms, was diagnosed as starting with allergies, then all the goo causing the other problems. I use hearing aids anyway and I still can't hear anything less than an explosion.
America must have the highest "goofs per capita" rating of any nation outside Antarctica.

People are dropping all over the place, when this is over, I think 9 shots will not be enough.
