Race 5 is a 6 1/2 furlong race starting from the top of the hill. With the scratches, #5 Madoffwiththemoney (5/1 ML) looks like the con
ing speed of the race. With Juan Hernandez up for Steve Miyadi, she ran a game 3rd in the Daisycutter Handicap at Del Mar when pressing the pace. She tracked in another stake down the hill but tired badly. She should appreciate the drop in class here, and her turf form is plenty good enough to beat 4 year old $50,000 claimers.Race 8 at Santa Anita is a horrid horrid race. With the favorites in this race looking as terrible as they do, lets try a price. I like #4 One in a Milli (8/1 ML) here for Kristin Mulhall. In her debut, she lingered near the back of the pack and made some late progress. That was going 6 furlongs, and today she stretches out to a mile. Mulhall shows a positive ROI in stretchout sprinters, and gets Tyler Baze to ride today. She isn't far behind some of the favorites in here either even off the sprint debut. Lets try her from off the pace in the finale.
Now over to Golden Gate by the Bay where I have two more tips at the home of the best announcer on the planet, Michael Wrona. The only reason anyone would watch Race 5 at Golden Gate would be if you are a degenerate gambler or listening just for the star of the show, Michael Wrona. The favorite is a Southern California shipper that is curiously placed at Golden Gate when her form doesn't look bad for So Cal maidens, in fact, if they started her in a special weight on the lawn, she would be bet. So why is she here? Lets throw her out and find a new face, #3 Thurlow (8/1 ML). This one ships in from Northlands for Rod Cone, and I expect this one to show speed in this 5 furlong dash. She ran once on synthetic, in her career debut at Woodbine, where she showed speed and tired against much better. These connections (Espitia - Cone) have popped for some longshots so far and hope they continue to extend the streak.
Race 6 is on the turf, and we have ourselves a potential lonely front runner in #5 See Zo Go (6/1 ML). He was used up on a contentious pace at this level last time and tired badly. The pace scenario looks much friendlier here today and he had shown good form at a slightly softer level in the past. Has run figures that are good enough to win and Alvarado stays aboard today. We hope to see him ridden for speed early. Though they will have to run down John Martin's Sir Al, who has won with 8 of his last 10 starters. Sir Al in the 6th is his lone starter today.
