Remember years ago, there was a man named Bill Burent, he had a travel show for years on TV, when he retired, he also died very suddenly

seemed like one of those kinda guys that even if you never met him or personally knew him,
he still felt like a friend.

Memorial special on KCET tonight:

KCET/28, for years the home station of the Huell Howser, will honor the TV host on its local news show “SoCal Connected” tonight at 5:30 and 10 p.m.

Howser, the longtime host of “California’s Gold” and several other series about the Golden State, died Sunday night at 67. Howser had ended production of the series in November and was rumored to be extremely ill.

KCET President Al Jerome and several others who worked with and knew Howser will discuss the late host and his career and impact on California television.

Howser came to KCET in 1987 and maintained his relationship with the station even after he formed his own production company. KCET hung onto Howser’s shows even after it parted with PBS at the end of 2010.
