Degen says:

"Now AG I know you hate FAVRUH, but this really is the perfect place for him to play. He has the "Purple Jesus" in the back field which will open up the passing game. He got worse last year as the season wore on but so did Thomas Jones in the back field. He had a monster field half of the season and collapsed the second part of the season putting everything on the shoulders of the injured FAVRUH. What ever their record is count 3 more wins because of FAVRUH. They won't win the Superbowl because the Cardinals or Chiefs will but they will win that division now.[/quote]

I was with you until you said the Chiefs could win the Super Bowl. I hope you are kidding because they aren't going to be over .500.

Like Jordan with the Wizards and Mays with the Mets, Farve is just another in a long-list of past-their-prime athletes who just can't let it go. Farve is going to end up on the disabled list by week 10 and then we can enjoy another off-season with the ego maniac pondering his future.

Let's also not forget that Peterson isn't exactly the most durable running back of all time. This is the same guy who broke his collerbone in college diving into the end zone. Not to mention that Running backs can go down on any play...more so than any position.

If Peterson were to go down, then what does ol #4 do...handing off to Chester Taylor (albeit a good back) won't be nearly enough.

One last point...can someone point out the wideout threats the Vikings have? I mean Bernard Berrian isn't Antonio Freeman, Sterling Sharpe, Robert Brooks, Chewey, Donald Driver, L. Coles...I mean he might be the 15th best WR Favre has played with in his career.

Peterson not durable because of one injury in 6 years the way he runs? LOL Did you follow him at OU and watch his first 2 years in the NFL?

Word has it Percy Harvin was tearing it up in practice and they inserted 20+ plays for him.

The Shutdown Five: Favorite Brett Favre press conference quotes
By MJD

Lists are one thing that can be counted on to consistently fire people up, and that's one thing we don't do enough of here on The Corner: make you angry. From time to time, Shutdown Corner will present a list of five NFL-related somethings. Today, my personal favorite quotes from yesterday's Brett Favre press conference, which had about the same amount of credibility as any upcoming press conference for the WWE's SummerSlam.

Yes I did watch while at OU and I remember the following:

2005 - High Ankle Sprain in an early season game vs. Kansas State, missed about a months worth of games
2006 - Broke collarbone in an October game while diving into the endzone missed the regular season and came back to lose against BSU in January

His NFL career has been fine, but dude has been a workhorse. Him being injured this year, isn't a longshot. Besides I said What if?

Vick and Farve just made it in - the 'cash for clunkers' program ends Monday.
Thank God for the Federal Reserve. You can't have big government or big wars without them.
