...if Peterson stays healthy. That's a guarantee. Now hear me out. I know many of you are chomping at the bit. I dislike B.F. as much as anybody. Really feel he's been an overhyped, mistake prone, none too smart, hypocritical, grunting windbag.(is that enough?) But I've been a fan of the Vikes for the last few years, and let me tell you from watching about half their games last year--Tavaris Jackson was one of the worst QB's in the history of the league.
Anybody, and I mean ANYBODY would be a major step up. Jackson made so many mind-boggling decisions in the pocket, it had to cost the Vikes at least a couple of games. And that was with teams stacking the line against Peterson, daring Jackson to do anything. The fact that B.F. has the reputation of a gun-slinger will help one of the best lines open MASSIVE holes for the running game. And the Vikes have an incredible defense. All Brett has to do is dial it down one notch or two(which I think will happen with his age and injuries). Rosenfels will be a more than adequate backup(probably getting quite a bit of work). Go to Vegas baby for futures. NOW!
The Vikes have improved their chances to make it to the SuperBowl, especially since the devastating news that Bulger will be out several weeks with a broken finger

And remember...Things work out best when you make the best of the way things work out.
Favre proved to us last year that he can't play sixteen games with effectiveness. Um, how many interceptions did he throw in the last half of the 2008 season????
Besides, how the hell is going to lead them to the Super Bowl when he STILL has a tear in his rotator cuff -- let alone the fact that he's coming off that bicep surgery? Not to mention that Minnesota is WAY MORE than a QB away from being a Super Bowl team.
I just don't see it.

I'll probably catch a lot of flak for this but:
I see a lot of comparisons between Favre and Shaq. They both want another Title. Both are trying to gravy train a fellow superstar to get another title (Shaq w/ LeBron and Favre w/ Peterson). Both are still around because they have vendettas they want to accomplish (Shaq wants to stick it to Kobe, and Favre to the Packers). They are both egomaniacs who need attention and seem to create drama no matter what.
The difference between the 2? Shaq didn't play Psychologist with any NBA team and string them along for 3 months just to miss the Pre-Season training. Plus, Shaq has a way better chance of winning his title than Favre. And Shaq is a lot more likeable and he's funnier.
No doubt all the knee jerk reaction would think Minny has the NFC locked up. A few things to consider. Father time faded like a dead duck the last 4 games. and that was with a 4 game lead. Second he's gonna play on one of the worst surfaces in the NFL. The rollerdome playing field is like concrete. many a pro player has lost their career on that piece of sheet. 3rd he brags about knowing the play book in his sleep. Lets see how the chemistry is after he starts his duck and chuck routine. The Norris divison is not gonna lay down for this guy and let him throw long to Berrian every other down. Chicago loves playing Favre.
In his last six games against the Bears as a member of the Packers, Favre threw just 2 TD passes and 13 interceptions, three of which were returned for scores by Urlacher, Lance Briggs and Nate Vasher. In other words, Favre threw more TDs to the Bears than the Packers in that span.
Neither do I. Oh it'll make for good TV ratings, but considering he fell apart toward the end of last year, I thought he'd wait until at least Minny's bye week to decide he wanted to play again. That way he'd have a better chance to hold up through the end of the season & any possible playoffs, but then again that way he'd miss both chances to lead his old NFC nemesis back into Lambeau. Favre must be drooling big time in anticipation of that Monday Night game on Oct. 5

Now AG I know you hate FAVRUH, but this really is the perfect place for him to play. He has the "Purple Jesus" in the back field which will open up the passing game. He got worse last year as the season wore on but so did Thomas Jones in the back field. He had a monster field half of the season and collapsed the second part of the season putting everything on the shoulders of the injured FAVRUH. What ever their record is count 3 more wins because of FAVRUH. They won't win the Superbowl because the Cardinals or Chiefs will but they will win that division now.
Mr. Super Bowl
If it is bet, they will take it.
Taking the Vikings to the Super Bowl might be a stretch but he does make them a better team. Everyone brings up the last half of the season with the Jets but do remember he was playing with a torn bicep for how many of those games? Watching him at the end of last year was like watching Pennington when we found out later he had an arm/shoulder injury and he came back fine in a system that fit.
Favre is now in a system that fits his ability. Very strong defense and running game so he doesn't need to carry the team. Just be a leader and know where to throw it and when. This is the same offencse he ran in Green Bay so he really doesn't need much time to learn the offense.
Who knows what the season will bring and the Vikings drastically overpaid but I think they see the next couple of years as their chance to go for it and Tavaris Jackson proved he can't do it. I liked Rosenfels but he can wait and will probably get some playing time this year anyway.
Can't wait for the season to start:)
