Scully is a legend, no doubt. But that is seriously tasteless.

Whoa!

I didn't catch the ball hitting Kuroda because I got home right after it happened but I did watch them carting him off and I don't recall Vin saying that - not that he didn’t. I have MLB.baseball.com On Demand and I will replay that whole inning tonight to verify.

But if Scully said it, he certainly didn't mean it the way you and Iman might have presumed he meant it. I can guarantee you that.

Scully's probably the last person alive who would say anything "tasteless" about a Dodger player, an opposing player, TVG personnel, or even a Raider fan:-)

You know what? I take it back. Scully probably said it very innocently. It's just not something you say in Japanese a lot. When you say "good-bye" you use other words/phrases A LOT more than "sayonara". I really shouldn't expect him to know that. My bad.

I just talked to a gal here at work who is fluent in Japanese and she agreed with you that it's strange he said that - basically it wouldn't be the best way for its use, BUT she also wanted to know what else he said, like maybe there was more to what he said.

So I'll have to listen to the tape. Perhaps he just "misspoke." I just can’t imagine Scully ever saying anything mean intentionally. He's like John Wooden or something, to me.

Btw, I just started reading his book, “Pull Up a Chair” so I’m a tad or so biased.

I did. He seems to like that topic. I thought it was funny what he said about DeRosa and the team picture. I posted it under your other thread.
