Raiders Thread

For the first preseason game, the Raiders looked exceptional last night. The run game was there, the passing game looked good (at least when Gradkowski was slinging the ball). I think Cable's "return to fundamentals" approach has some promise. Yes, I realize this is pre-season, but they looked to be firing on all cylinders last night, which is something I haven't seen in quite a while.

Does JaMarcus have the starting job sown up? Both Gradkowski and Frye looked good in the pocket. To add to the scramble, we have Jeff Garcia as well (who didn't play last night due to a minor injury).

If McFadden stay healthy...I like the direction of the offense. Dude is a hell of a back.

Yes, for preseason they did look good.

Yes, it's pre-season, but here are my thoughts:

Gradowski impressed me. Dude is really fighting for that third-string spot. I see improvement in Russell as he was not holding on to the ball as long as usual & seemed more confident. Also liked his seventeen-yard run.

Am a bit concerned with our first string D -- which is odd as it should be our strong point. They seemed confused at times & gave up a bunch of yards in that first series with Romo. Didn't pass rush when they obviously should have & gave Romo too much time. Seemed to have a few holes as well. Thank you Burgess for wanting out & going to the Patriots. :( An even bigger thanks to Daddy Davis for not paying him his worth and losing him. Loveing idiot.

All that being written, I really feel that we have a lot of talent & just need to get it to gel. I'm happy Cable is still here and feel he's a no-nonsense type of guy that is good for our young team.

I expect good things from them this year & look forward to a better position in our crappy a$$ AFC West conference.

Raiders fans should send a thank you card to the Tennessee Volunteers.
