Phone Call Question

Postby Srotagtbs » Sun Aug 02, 2009 4:14 pm

I have a question for anyone who cares to answer:

When you get a call from a phone number you don't know, do you answer it? I got a call from Stevens Point, Wisconsin yesterday and didn't answer even though I know a few folks from around there. The problem is they called my HOME number and I only gave out my CELL number. When I checked on Whitepages.com it only said that it was a land line. Anyone else as rude and unthoughtful as me when it comes to answering the phone from an unknown caller?

It depends on my mood to be quite honest. If I don't recognize the area code, I'm a little leery. I don't get too many 800 or 888 calls, so if I do get one, I always let it go to voice mail. I don't see it as being rude, it's your right to screen your calls if you wish.

I generally let an unknown call go to voice mail -- and usually Google the number to see if it's a spammer.
I hate it when I don't forward chain letter and I die the next day!

Well they didn't leave a voice mail so I guess the call wasn't that important.

Those darn "Car Warranty" spam calls are pretty slick, they call from "normal" looking numbers, not 800 or 888. And if you try to call it back, it says the number cant accept incoming calls. And then they keep calling, but not from the same number, its always different area codes!!! They suck!

I always tell them "yes, I am very interested". They start into their spiel and then get to the part about how many miles my car has and what year is it. Then they tell me it doesn't qualify. Then I give them a bad time about how they didn't say there were any pre-qualifications and yadda-yadda-yadda. I love yanking their chains.

I try to always answer my cell even if I don't know the number because you never know.

One time my sister called me in a pinch (she was out of town and lost her cell phone) and I ignored the call. She borrowed a friend's cell phone to call me and kept calling me back so I finally answered it.

If it is a marketing call, simply tell them they've been reported in about 2 seconds and that's that.

If the marketer calls you on your land line, act interested for a split second, tell them to hold, and leave them hanging - that'll do it.
