My goal for the summer

Postby CapeCodDoug » Thu Jul 23, 2009 6:08 am

Well, I'm packing my family up and we're going to California, hopefully including at least one stop at Del Mar.

So here's my crazy goal for the rest of the summer -- gonna wear my Saratoga hat at Del Mar, then a del Mar hat at Toga, and see what kind of comments I get . . .

Lol...I often do the same. Will wear my LA Cap at a ballgame between the A's and Yankees and wear my Yankee cap (I know you'd appreciate that) in LA.

Perhaps we're simply mixed up and don't realize it.

Will you be in northern Cal at all or just in the better half in the state?

They only way DMR folk will notice your Toga hat is if they are covering bloobs. Otherwise you could be wearing coonskin and no one will bat an eye.

Toga folk will jeer and toss popcorn at you and your DMR cap, due to their intense jealousy.

The most razzing I ever got was when I wore my Santa Anita jacket at a horseshow / convention . Then I was looked down at as " Oh, you're one of those horseracing people..........." All racetrackers care about is " who do you like today ? "
If wishes were horses then beggars would ride-
& If dirt were dollars we'd all be in the black

A colleague of mine is a show jumping rider, so I attend events from time to time. I've never been of the impression that the horsepeople at those expos have any interest in racing. Even said rider says to me "they race them too young", but also says "I don't begrudge you for playing the races."

it wil be interesting to see how toga folk look at california racing this summer, i'm an optimist, think the 5 day week will help in these topsy-turvy times!
