Muschamp would be interesting, but coach-in-waiting at Texas is a nice title to have. His family reportedly loves Austin and $900k a year isn't chump change while waiting to take over an elite program that can't be more stable as opposed to the mess that is the current Tennessee position. I haven't heard Frog Patterson's name mentioned much so hopefully he isn't a candidate and stays at TCU. Connecticut coach has a lot of buzz currently and I would think Boise State coach has to be a candidate for a big job, but I never hear his name mentioned.
I still can't believe he left after a year. When we make our college visit to Tennessee in March, I'll have to make sure Kiffin's name is not uttered by any of my family members.
"I'm Winston Wolf. I solve problems."
Charlie Strong was the coach in waiting at Florida and I wonder if he hadn't taken the Louisville job would the administration quickly have slid him in when Meyer freaked out. There may not have been a second chance. On the other hand, I think the Bowdens and Paternos of the world makes one wonder just how long that wait might be. Muschamp is very familiar with the SEC, but who knows. You're right, Austin is a great place to wait.
I don't think you hear TCU and Boise State's coaches names mentioned much because I think they are pretty happy. That and maybe Jimmy Sexton isn't their agent.
When Alabama was looking for a coach he managed to get Spurrier a raise, Rodriguez a raise, Nutt a raise and Saban the job. Alabama was never seriously looking at the other three no matter what the media said about Rodriguez, it was always Saban, but Sexton played it great.
The funny thing is Sexton is a Tenn grad and Kiffin is a client. Hmmmmm, wonder what he thinks.

Kiffen may want to put in a call to Chad Ochocinco who knows all the ins & outs of name changes.

It's funny I was thinking the exact same thing driving to work this morning!
I can't wait for the Vols-Trojans home-and-home series in 2021-22.
