I didn't believe it when you posted it. I'm in shock that he's bolting from Tennessee after one year. Granted USC is a premier spot, but I'm still very surprised. I think the Trojans are staring down the barrel of some big problems with the NCAA and Kiffin doesn't strike me as someone who can smooth things over, more likely that he pushes the envelope that much further. I guess Lane and Harbaugh will have some interesting verbal volleys back in forth. I'm sure Urban Meyer and most of the SEC won't be missing the mouth of the south.
"I'm Winston Wolf. I solve problems."
He never sets foot in the state of Tennessee again, right?
"The bill approved in Congress to avert the so-called fiscal cliff would bring the first major tax increase on high earners in 20 years."

I dunno. The only bowl game they'll be able qualify for is the Slim-Jim Redneck Bowl in Smyrna (provided the NCAA's sanctions will allow them to play in bowl games).

This is interesting, isn't it? Bob B's post is right on the money. Kiffin is a curious hire in many ways, but w/NCAA problems looming, is he the guy to steer the Trojan ship through the anticipated rough seas? Hmm.
I do like the virtual dream team of assistant coaches, however. Coach Orgeron would be back, and the dude is money in terms of recruiting. No pun intended there.
And Monte Kiffin and Norm Chow in the coordinator slots? Sounds just fine to me. Kid Kiffin won't have to do more than just sit there and look pretty.
Oh, by the way.....USC and Tennessee are slated to play in 2012. The only reason I know this? Hate groups forming about Lane Kiffin at a dizzying pace....unbelievable. Those folks in Tennessee take their football pretty seriously, don't they? In the one group I joined, F Lane Kiffin, his wife's cell phone was given out, as was his physical address. Many posters made physical threats against him.
Can 2012 get here already?
CCD, I think TN will be better off in the long run. The SEC has won the last four titles, that's good for everybody in the conference. Orgeron can recruit and like Ole Miss, they have left some nice players. Ten of their recruits were early enrollees including Juwan James. Their problem is that Kiffin already has them in NCAA trouble, but he is gone now so that might be favorable. USC hiring him in my eye, if USC were to get sanctions, this could make them even stiffer since Kiffin thinks so little of the rules.
You are talking about coaches that are advising their mid-term enrollees to stop going to class so they can come to USC. Really? Who on USC's commit list is going to give up their spots? That's classy on both ends.
I think TN said all they needed to say. Kiffin's buyout is $900,000 payable over 36 months. I think Mark Richt's is $8,000,000. USC was probably turned down by a half-dozen different coaches before they landed on Kiffin.
Tennessee will have people knocking their door down. I could see David Cutcliffe coming back, he worked with both Mannings and Ole Miss was crazy to fire him. Will Muschamp would be a GREAT fit, possibly even Kirby Smart from Alabama. The UConn coach would be a nice selection. The Pirate Mike Leach is available. The Air Force coach. The list is endless. They just have to make a choice and make it fast.
