A new excuse for losing

Heard at the track: (OK, read it in a book I'm reading now):

"... the winner, a dappled horse named Doggen Katz, paid $19.20.

"Son of a Beech", the little man said. I almost had him. The only thing I did wrong was decide to bet on a different horse".
America must have the highest "goofs per capita" rating of any nation outside Antarctica.

The dapples! I did have someone tell me before they didn't think those dapples were a good thing. Wanted to know could it be ringworm or some sort of disease.

The first year the Birmingham Race Course was open my brother and I didn't know anything about handicapping a horse race so we went down to the paddock and assinged "priss" marks. If someone was pawing at the ground that was a run to the window. Y'all seen Zenyatta before her races? :D
