It was reported this morning that Harvin needs hip surgery and will be out about 4 months. The Hawks signed him for four years and $67 million and three draft picks, including this year's first round pick. Harvin is the second injury prone Viking wide receiver that the Hawks have signed. The other is Sydney Rice, not to be confused with Jerry Rice. Sydney is in Switzerland right now getting a high tech preventive treatment for his knee. When he gets hurt they will be down to Golden Tate. Good luck with that.
Harvin looked OK in a May workout with the team but was held back in June workouts because he complained of hip pain. Nobody did anything and now, without any real contact drills, he needs surgery? The Hawks are just not paying attention and the Vikings have money in the bank.
I am convinced that one reason the Hawks took a chance on Harvin is they didn't want the Niners to get him.

That's right, guaranteed money is less in the NFL. He has to make the team and all that. But Harvin's contract includes $14.5 million in guaranteed money for 2013 — a $12 million signing bonus and $2.5 million salary. The Hawks paid too much.
