Exactly 2 months after I posted this about teens driving while texting, etc.,
a lady friend of ours was killed this morning in Colorado Springs when a 17 year old girl
was texting and crossed the yellow lines. Her husband wasn't seriously injured.
They both worked at Verizon.

The police haven't checked her phone records yet but the girl said she had leaned over to adjust her heater
and swerved into the other lane. She was cited with "Careless driving resulting in death". There were 3 other
people in her car, none seriously injured.

That's awful. And not the end of driving while texting deaths, I'm afraid.

Sorry for your loss. Prayers go out to all the family and friends. Can't understand why texting, phone talking that's not hands free, and other ""distractions" haven't been taken more seriously by all of us. Just saw the other night some guy watching a small screen t.v. hooked up where the radio goes in the car, driving over the barrier. Guess it's an upside down world we're living through.

Colorado has a law, you can't talk on the phone while driving, you have to pull over.
We don't know yet if that was it, but it doesn't bring Anne back either way. The young
lady has ruined her life too.

That's awful. I am so sorry. Surely, soon they will come up with a device in cars that will disable that for the driver, but I don't know how you do that without disabling passengers, surely there is a way.

I saw a woman once on Oprah that had an accident while fooling with her cell phone and afterwards when she would get in the car she put her cell phone in the trunk so she wouldn't even be tempted.

Our car's Bluetooth knows when my wife gets in the car, so if it connects to her phone, seems it could just as easily disconnect her phone.
But, that technology supposed to be about preventing fumbling with the phone in the car.

We will be driving up for the services during a really bad storm moving into Colorado. Guess that will remind us why we moved.
