The bigger a charity gets the more I think its a business more than a charity.
Perhaps someone with a financial background(I had one but never read financials in the charity area) can explain to me how the Salvation Army has a liability listed on their financials of $1.778 billion dollars for retirement and post retirement benefits.

see page 18 of report.
How exactly is that liability funded? From donation money?
If so, why am I donating money for their retirement plan and not to help someone in need, or at least help a lot more that could be helped?

This site has been most useful to me over the years in deciding which charities "Deserve" my hard earned $$
You can take the man away from the racetrack, but you can not take the racetrack out of the man.
Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.
