In Memory of Carlo Gambino

Postby MikeFromGardena » Sun Feb 03, 2013 12:10 am

When Ray Lewis was charged with murder he made a deal with the prosecuters to testify against the other two witnesses for reduced charges. Fortunately, they were found not guilty. The prosecuters were inept and their football-playing celebrity witness was not convincing. Lewis threw a few dollars at the victims' families to shut them up and so they wouldn't file a civil suit (like happened to OJ).

"No bum talks about a bum." -- Carlo Gambino

Mr. Gambino belonged to an Italian fraternal organization in which the members had colorful nicknames. The organization was prone to settle management and territorial differences in a violent manner. Overall, their operations cannot be condoned. But they had a loyalty code that was admirable and is summarized nicely in the above quote by Mr. Gambino. Members who turned state's evidence, like Ray Lewis did in Baltimore, feared for their lives and had to go into hiding.

Tomorrow Jim "Whitebread" Nantz and Phil "Clueless Phil" Simms will describe Ray Lewis as a team leader. It is possible for him to be a leader on a football team, but that is not the real world. In the real world, Ray Lewis is a sniveling, self-serving punk. Maybe he didn't sign a loyalty oath, but he is still a punk.

I can't bet on the Ravens. That looks too much like forgiving and supporting Ray "The Punk" Lewis. I will put a few bucks on the Niners -- in memory of Carlo Gambino, who new the value of a standup guy.

Extremely sharp post.

"No bum talks about a bum." -- Carlo Gambino"

Gotta love it and it's so true.
