Winfred Rembert. Maybe some of you have heard of Winfred Rembert, but I never heard this man's name until yesterday. I happened to catch a program series named"America Reframed" on PBS yesterday. The episode was a documentary named "All Me" and it's about a living artist, named Winfred Rembert, that grew up in the south, just before and during the Civil Rights movement. Rembert does all of his artwork by etching and coloring in leather, his experiences growing up in the south. The work is amazing and moving, at least to me. If you get a chance to catch the episode on the PBS series America Reframed I guarantee you that your interest will be held throughout the 90 minutes of the program length.
Here's a link to a website that has some of Rembert's art. Once you see the documentary it will provide more meaning to the art that you are viewing.
