Living on "The Rock" we still have Zero power no phone nothing except hot water to wash behind the beefstakes. It's midday Monday about 7 days since Sandy hit & still 600,000 homes on Long Island powerless. No traffic lights working either, they say maybe by Wednesday power could be restored but I do not see any power trucks at all.

Oh yeah , forget about getting gasoline. 1 out of every 12 stations are open and they have 3 mile lines

Hope you're doing ok up there.

Hurricanes are bad enough in the South, but that looks like a giant clusterf with all the people and density up there. Alot of work ahead, obviously.

Can't decide if it's better to be without power for an extended period when it's hot (been there) or without power when it's cold (wouldn't like to try it).
