9 K's thru 4 innings. Nice to see someone in Blue step up and get it done.

Hope tonight's the night - what's the shelf-life of Champagne?

It's looking like the Birds and the Dogs on Wednesday in LA. Cards are limping into the playoffs losing 5 of 6 since clinching and looking awful in the process with errors, horrid bullpen and general sloppy play. Positives are past record against the Dodgers and the 1-2 punch of Carpenter and Wainwright for the games in LA. I just hope they both can go nine, because no lead is safe with the Cardinal bullpen in the last month. It should be an interesting series. I'm just glad the Cards aren't playing Philadelphia, because we're their whipping boy. They just crush the Cardinals in Philly and St Louis, but they have major bullpen problems as well. Colorado actually seems like the most dangerous team in the NL to me as they seem to be playing the best down the stretch. The Cardinals big two starters have to win every game they pitch for the Cardinals to have any chance of making the World Series even with Pujols and Holliday.

Dodgers look like they will win but the red birds own the Dodgers. La Russa remembers 1988 every day and makes the Dodgers pay and makes the Dodgers pay each and everytime he see's them these days.

Correct me if I’m wrong but just a few years ago the Cards figuratively limped into the playoffs and then beat the living loving love out of everyone in their way for their 7th Championship (or was it their 8th?) if I recall.

That was their 10th in '06, sir, but you are correct on the other details. They had one of the worst regular season records of a World Series team. In '04 they had the best record in baseball and went into the World Series and were whipped by the Red Sox in four straight. Maybe their pathetic form over the last two weeks is a good sign.

Any team but the Red Sox will be fine with me. I cannot stand them.

All Cardinal fans are wondering when Tom Niedenfuer will be making his way to the mound?
