you could surprise her for her Bday Vince. Say with two tickets to a "special event." It is either that or you will have to call in a "favor" to your cousin Tony in New Yawk or your cousin Sluggo in Jawsey.

All this may be academic.

Lol, I meant to say "apparently a game on Oct 7" not apparently her birthday. This forum can really screw up one's train of thought sometimes. I blame Joel for leaving us.

Geez, I hope she doesn't lurk in here or my ass is grass.

Excuse me, but with all those jewelry shops on the tours in Alaska plus the nice on-board sales, did you not buy her a piece of jewelry or two and call it an early birthday present?

I read in Baseball Weekly that the Yankees, since they have the best record in the AL, have a choice in which playoff series (not team) to have. I.e, they can have a 7 day series that includes 2 off days or an 8 day series that includes a day off after every game.

Is that the same for the Dodgers if they finish with the best record in the NL? Has this option always existed or is it new for 2009? I don't ever remember it.

Both NL series are on the same dates so there is no choice to make.

If the Cardinals and Rockies sweep this weekend and Philly splits there last 4, all 3 division winners will have the same record with the Dodgers one game worse or if the Dodgers win 1 of 3, there would be a 3 way tie with the Rockies 1 game worse. Kind of crazy and would suggest a competitive NL pennant chase. I don't know the tiebreaker if there is a 3 way tie for best record. I think a two way tie goes to season series and the Cardinals would only win that tie break against the Dodgers. Dodgers won head to head vs Philly.

Here's one of the 3 way tie scenarios...
If there is a two-way tie between ...

• Dodgers and Phillies: Dodgers win due to their 4-3 record against Philadelphia.

• Dodgers and Cardinals: Cardinals win due to their 5-2 record against Los Angeles.

• Phillies and Cardinals: Phillies win due to their 4-1 record against St. Louis.

In the event of a three-way tie, the first tiebreaker is the teams' combined record against the other two teams. That would go to the Phillies, who were 7-5 against St. Louis and Los Angeles. The Cardinals were 6-6 and the Dodgers were 6-8.

That would make the Cardinals the No. 2 seed and give them home-field advantage in the Division Series.

I should have because everything was like 97.7% off because our boat was the next last one for the season or some love like that claimed all the stores. But I did buy me an Alaska Cap and Ski Mask for $1.97 each that I'll wear to frigid Clocker's Corner at 3:37am to watch Golden Apples work come November 5th.

Bob, I meant the Yankees. I read somewhere they have a choice as to which schedule to follow. They still have to play Detroit, but have a choice of how many days off they want - during or after the series (if they win).

Duck,

What are the chances you can buy me two Dodger Dogs with extra mustard, keep them heated, and give them to me when I come down on Nov 4th?

I'll trade you a tip on the Rams this weekend for them:-)

That reminds me of my first trip to Chavez Ravine. The night game ran late and by about the 12 inning we started getting hungry. I mean hungry enough to eat a Dodger Dog - now that's hungry. So we saunter up to the hot dog stand and grab a couple of D-dogs each. Now, ballpark franks are bad enough, but after 4 hours, they start to take on a life of their own. We drag our bounty over to the condiment station only to find out the pneumatic mustard dispensers were turned off in the 9th inning. About the time we were able to choke down the last bites of the dry tube steaks, Shecky Greene jacks the game-winner out of the park.
