Question For TVG Viewers

Postby PrivateSmiles » Sat Sep 19, 2009 11:12 am

I view on DISH Network so this may or may not apply if you're watching on another provider.

When I watch TVG I have to turn the volume on my TV way, way up. Both on my 311 receiver and on my 625. All the other channels, I keep the volume on or about the same setting - the high teens or lower 20s on the TV's onscreen volume bar. For TVG I have to turn it up to about 26-28. I realize not all TV volumes are calibrated alike, but do you find that your TVG viewing experience requires raising the volume from the other channels you watch?

I did hear from a DISH Installer that the volume of each channel is coned by the individual networks, not by DISH.

We had Dish for the last few years and seemed to have problems with volume and sync. on certain channels. Now we've switched to U-Verse and bought a new large screen t.v. and we still are having the same issues. I'm gonna check into the t.v. setup to see if there's something that can be done within the television's remote programming.

I will bet that it's not the TV. Or your provider. I'm convinced it's the network behind each channel with a problem, as far as the volume issue.

So I turn the volume up enough to hear TVG's broadcast, and then when a commercial comes on that's not one of TVG's own, I get blasted out of my chair by the sound.

It's TVG that has their broadcast sound turned down. Started to notice this some time ago during Del Mar, & I don't understand why it is. I found I too was turning up the sound & I don't need one of LIRM's hearing aids, so I did a little experiment- since TVG also broadcasts most of the races on the Fox Sports channel, I would flip between those two to see if it made a difference, & the volume on Fox was normal while TVG itself had a much lower level. For me it was a simple solution- whenever I can I watch the Fox Sports channel & then all the other channels I turn to are already at a comfortable level.

I can't imagine no one has mentioned this to TVG.

I have Dish too (but different receivers) and have the same issue with TVG's volume being low. I guess they figure that so many people watch it on "Mute" that they might as well meet them halfway.

Just the opposite here - to get the proper sound levels for listening to TVGsucks I need to turn the sound level to 0.

I like to really crank it up so I can hear from every room in the house, go about my daily duties and still be able to hear when it's post time.

Just the opposite of sitting in a racebook in Vegas with no sound turned on, absolutely HATE IT when I see a race going off that I missed a wagering opportunity on just because I got distracted with the tail waitress for a couple minutes.

I don't know how all the Mute fans do it, congrats to those who can keep their eyes glued to the set.

I like to have the TVG volume up loud enough that I can hear it no matter what room I am in (I have a small one-story house so that isn't as bad as it sounds), but not blasting away. But if I do that, the commercials that aren't TVG's are so much louder and so much more annoying than usual that it just isn't worth it. I would like it in the background like a radio.

It's time for those of us who go to TVG's "Community" forum to start complaining there.
