Any audiophiles out there?

Postby Bloker » Tue May 01, 2012 4:53 am

This is probably a really retarded question, but...

I currently run two sets of speakers, a large floor standing pair and a pair of smaller bookshelf speakers, through a basic dual channel stereo receiver to listen to music.

If I were to replace my dual channel stereo receiver with a 5.1 or 7.1 home theatre surround receiver, would I notice an improvement in sound for music reproduction? Or would any sound improvement need to be done by speaker upgrade?

Hope I'm asking this correctly. Thanks in advance!

Punted the question to Norman, who's a connoisseur of speakers. He'll be emailing you.

The short answer is YES! Definitely!

Got a 7.2 surround receiver and added a couple of powered subwoofers to what I already had. Let's just say it's fun hearing all of my old favorites in a new way.

It goes up to 11!
