Sunday Night Quarterback

Postby Dgstan » Sun Sep 13, 2009 9:37 pm

On paper, the switch from Kyle Orton to Jay Cutler seemed to be a good idea. On the field though, it looked somewhat different. Don't know how long the patient Chicago fans will put up with his dull play. Is Grossman waiting in the wings? Cutler probably gets one week to get it straightened out. They can't allow the HOF QB up north get the jump on them.

Meanwhile, Orton's complete mastery of the carom shot has him looking the hero, and it won't take much to land a playoff spot in the AFC West. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if this years AFC West precipitates a rule change after a 6-10 team makes it to the playoffs by default.

Classic Dogstain.

I know you hate the Bolts, but do you TRULY think they will finish 6-10?

If you do, you should load up in Vegas, where the Chargers Win Total Over/Under for this season is 10..

"Hate" isn't a strong enough word. If the Dolts win 10 games, it'll only be because they swept the equally abysmal AFC West.

BTW - Are you willing to give me the 11 points against the fully-prepared Raiders? I'm not predicting great things for Big Al's crew (that comes tomorrow), but I'll tell you one thing: They are ready to hit the ground running tonight. If the Chargers aren't 100% ready for the season, they will get spanked. All reports state the Raiders had a tremendous camp.

No, I don't bet with fellow Dodger fans.

Actually I think the Raiders have a real shot of winning tonight's game, or at least covering the spread.

Exactly, on the Chargers record. 5 wins should come from AFC West opponents. Then if they just split the remaining 10 games, there is your 10-6 record.

I really don't get into football until the baseball season ends..get back to me in November..b-)

I'm a Bears fan and although really disappointed with last night's outcome and the 4 picks, I still take Cutler. I fault the Bears "Brain Trust" more than anything. Bad play calling (they forgot Forte is on their team), not upgrading the receivers and calling the game like a bunch of pussies. Cutler deserves the criticism he is getting today, but the coaches did nothing in camp or last night to help him out.

Also, despite four picks, a fake punt that was ill advised to say the least and the loss of the team captain for the whole second half...I am somewhat upbeat that they only lost by one score. Sorry to go off topic a tad

BTW, Chargers by 4 tonight. For what its worth. I hope the Raiders win.

You hope they win. I hope they win. The Referees however, have other ideas.

So let me get this straight:

1. Catch the ball in the end zone
2. Land on both feet with complete control of the ball
3. Fall to the ground while maintaining complete control of the ball
4. Upon contact with the ground, the nose of the ball hits the ground while under the complete control of the receiver

This equals an incomplete pass.

The rules state that upon reaching #2, the play is over - Touchdown. Even the most ignorant of Charger fans must admit that Christmas came early this year. As a longtime Raider fan, I'm used to the referees deciding the game in the opponent's favor. As Rod Woodson used to say "We have to play well enough to beat the zebras too".

Raiders cover the spread. Win.

Make-up call for the Week 1 Hochuli debacle last year?

The Chargers played like absolute poo. If the Raiders couldn't beat them last night, they won't beat them for at least another dozen games..
