Thank God for the Federal Reserve. You can't have big government or big wars without them.

That is a funny ad, Kermit ....

and the Kennel Club deserves it to a certain extent ....

There is nothing wrong with pure bred dogs ...and there are advantages to pure breds ... Producing allergy free pets, producing dogs with high intelligence, high trainability, certain strengths ... most pure bred dogs were pure bred to promote certain traits that helped the dog a good worker for humans...herding, hunting, hauling, guarding ...
(I once had a German Shepherd that was beloved by all the moms in my neighborhood because she would herd the children ..not let them go in the street and was very gentle about keeping them in a certain play area.... )

Howver, just like horse breeders have 'forgotten' to breed for stamina and durability, dog breeders have overlooked things in breeding dogs for shows ... I have friends who have had to have their er Spaniels put down due to agressive, violent behavior and they tell me that inbreeding has produced this beautiful but violent dog ... and since the trait shows up at 4 or 5 years, and is usually in the males, the breeders don't really care --------no more ers for them

That is what is bad with the 'pure breeding' that the Kennel Club promotes ... if they graded the dogs on traits other than just looks ... and also if they encouraged a wide gene pool breeding ...
but alas, these various organizations so concerned with the 'purity' of the breed are both producing substandard breeds

I understand that other horse breeds are having their problems too ...
maybe we just need to let them all return to the wild for a few generations and see what "Nature and Nature's God" produce
