Not singles day, but single day!
As in, I'm looking at the card, and all my multiple race wagers are full of singles. I probably should be scared by this, but I'm kind of excited. This could be a day of very short priced winners if things hold to form.
First day at the 'ol Surf by the Turf this season, so let's do this!
R1 - Night Dance - She drops down to a level where she is very competitive. She'll get the lead and wire this bunch.
R2 - American Pride - Probably going to be 3/5 or so, but seems to tower over these here.
R3 - Glad's Gals - Ran a sneaky (I hope!) good race last out after a year on the bench. But, there are a few in here that I need to take a good look at in the paddock. Scary Fast is the main one. Very strong run out of her last out, also after a year off. Also, U R My Candy Girl ran a good 2nd to Tribal Spy, who I've been keeping a close eye on.
R4 - Doinghardtimeagain - Probably going to be 1/5 or so. G2 winner vs this bunch??? I guess Hollendorfer really wants to get a race into her!
R5 - Now Hope - What did I say about cheap claimers a few weeks ago? Something about passing or other nonsense like that. But New Hope looked pretty good up north last out, so I'll throw a few dollars on her nose here.
R6 - Magic Daddy - I really will be watching the tote on this one. Been working like a champ, but the other Baffert, Quality Plan, looks strong as well. Also looking at Power Ped, who ran "meh" last out, but that was after a half-year layoff.
R7 - This should be a nice race! I like Swift Eagle here. He had all sorts of trouble down the stretch last out. With a clean trip here, he can take this one. I might go very deep here on a P4, with the thought of singling that Baffert horse in the next race, what's his name? Maybe even take a flyer single in R9 too. I really like American Tanker as the exotic killer in this race. Ran pretty well last out, and I suspect he likes the fresh air by the beach. Also, looking hard at Bio Pro and Motown Men too.
R8 - Paynter!!! Training like a tornado. How can you bet against the feel-good story of the day? Of course, he's going to be 1/9...
Like I said, probably go deep on a P4 in the other races, single him here and keep my win money in my pocket and watch him run!
R9 - Maybe my best "value" (I HOPE!) play of the day. I haven't seen the M/L yet, so I'm probably drooling over a short priced favorite here But, I really like Mayan Eyes. Ran a pretty decent race last out, considering he face-planted himself out of the gate. He should be able to pop out to an easy lead here and never look back!
R10 - So, if I'm still alive on my P4, I'm going deep here too! Going with Winning Rhythm to win, but will spread it around for the P4. Looking at Iconic Spirit, Tappingintherain, and Jazz On the Beach for that.
2 / 4 / 4 / 6 / 3,5,8,9 (Play this one for $2, so $8 total)
1,4,5 / 4 / 4,5,8,9,10 / 6 / 3,5,8 ($0.50 this one for $22.50)
1,5,6,7,8 / 3 / 3,5,10 / 1,6,7,9,10 ($0.50 this one for $37.50)
SAR R1 - What's Caixa Electronica doing in these Opt. Claimers? He should be able to wire these guys.
SAR R5 (Prioress) - Kauai Katie is probably going to wire this bunch at 2/5, but I'll try to get some value here and go with So Many Ways. I think she's a better sprinter than router, unfortunately, Kauai is too!
SAR R9 (Diana) - Dayatthespa is going to get her easy lead here. The question is whether she can hold these off! I'll take 6/1 on her and find out!
SAR R10 (Jim Dandy) - What an odd race this one is! It's like all these got caught in the Triple Crown undertow and they're all crawling out of the surf to run here. I think Code West is the play in here. He's a gamer and definitely has the recency going for him. A lot of the others have been in the pasture for a long time, so they'll probably need a race.
Good luck all!
