Decent card at Golden Gate Fields on this Saturday afternoon. The plays:
Race 4: #3 Maidens Justice )8/1) goes up a level in class off a troubled 3rd against 20K claimers here on April 19th. No doubt, he should have been unsaddled that afternoon and I like the 3 drills since the last race. With Restless Youth and possibly The Great Caper and Midnight Fiddle doing battle on the front end, it can set things up for the son of Lit de Justice. Catalino Martinez in the saddle today.
Race 5: #5 Satin Bouquet (3/1) drops from $12,500 company (when an even 4th) for high-% trainer John Martin. The daughter of Flower Alley, once thought of highly, has never run this cheap and looks to be perfectly spotted. Her last win came on the Lakeside Turf Course and should be along in time with Gryder aboard.
Race 7: #8 Mr. Candy Bar (10/1) drops out of a 9th place effort, beaten 6 lengths, in the Grade 3 San Francisco Mile for trainer O J Jauregui. The son of Candy Ride hasn't seen the winners circle since last August at Santa Rosa (when 8/1 in the Robert Dupret Derby). He can pop up with a strong effort now-and-then and I like the jock switch to David Lopez. Price chance in a wide-open race.
