How can I pass up such a nice day of racing? Too bad I can't make it up to LA in person though.
SA R1: Another Victoria. What's up with Swissarella? A few months ago, it looked like she would be a world beater. Now, she just seems beat. Maybe she's just running up against really good horses. Anyway, I'm not going to reach for that falling knife. Another Victoria looked like a winner last out, until she wasn't. Could be she needed one, so I'll hang my money on her.
SA R2: Southern Sunrise. Lone speed and Gary Stevens up? Smells like money.
SA R3: Shiva Ryan. Not sure I like anyone in this race, so we'll go for the shipper. His last seems like a decent enough race. Maybe should be passing on this race.
SA R4: Kristo. Ran well, but didn't get it into gear until it was too late. Let's hope he learned something from last time out.
SA R5: She's A Tiger. Now were getting to the good races! She's A Tiger ran lights out last time! That was one gritty race! She shouldn't have to deal with a speed duel here (I hope), so she should have more oomph down the lane to hold off Fascinating when she gets rolling herself.
SA R6: Tiz Flirtatious. Me, going against Marketing Mix on a hard turf? Inconceivable! But, this is more of a price play for me. Marketing is going to be much shorter than 7/5 and Tiz ran right with her two back and destroyed them last out in a slow race. This should be another slow one, so why not take Tiz here?
SA R7: Schoolofhardrocks. Ran an outstanding race in his only start! Pull it up and watch that middle move he makes. Who knows about the quality of the ones he beat, but like with all 2 year old races, that's just par for the course.
SA R8: Macaabra. Good 2nd right off the plane and should improve off of that.
SA R9: Authenticity / Beholder. I am going to waffle here because I just looked at the morning line. I try to handicap without knowing the M/L, then go back and make adjustments if horses I like, or not, have lines that are way out of whack to me. This is one of those cases. I absolutely thought that Beholder would have been the M/L favorite, but she's the 3rd choice! If she's anywhere near that 3/1 M/L, I am all over that. If she's a lot lower, say 7/5, then I'll hop over to Authenticity. In no stretch of my imagination did I think Joyful Victory would be favored here. Although, Joyful is sooooo pretty! If it were a beauty contest, she would win hands down!
SA R10: Mucho Macho Man. Is Paynter the horse he used to be? We'll find out tomorrow! I hate MMM's post, but I like him here, especially since I'm guessing there will be a lot of "Awwwww" money going to Paynter.
SA R11: Heir Kitty. Talk about taking the long way home! Heir Kitty must have been 10-wide going around the turn last time out. AND, she almost got there anyway. Book it! May be the bet of the day!
BEL R5 Beldame: Royal Delta. HAHAHAhahaha...as if I'm going to bet her at 1/9...I will watch though. She's a good one! That said, if Princess is anywhere near 3-1 (HAHAhahahahahaha...as if....I kill myself sometimes. ) I will throw a flyer on her. But, this is a good question. Delta is going to be, what, 2/5? Princess is going to be 2/1? Does that mean everyone else will be 30-1 and up?
BEL R6 Kelso: Graydar. Hate the name, but love the horse.
BEL R7 Vosburgh: Justin Phillip. Maybe he didn't like the slop last time. You know he likes Belmont though.
BEL R8 Flower Bowl: Laughing. Laughing all the way to the bank is more like it!
BEL R9 Joe Hirsch: Big Blue Kitten. Those Ramseys are pulling a Baffert-like (or Pletcher-like) move here. 3 out of 10 entrants! Is this even fair? Probably doesn't matter, the Kitten is going to rule.
BEL R10 Gold Cup: Orb. All aboard the Orb Train for a 2nd run! Toot toot! And, why not? Ran a tiring third to Will Take Charge, who obliterated the field at Parx last week. He's going to be much fitter here. Plus, you're going to get 5-1 or more on him! I like those odds!
BEL R11: Rosalie's Pleasure. Just throwing this up there to complete the P6 that I won't play.
Good luck all!
