Mine That Bird Unlikely for Travers

Postby Egreen » Thu Aug 20, 2009 1:36 pm

TVG is running a scroll stating that Mine That Bird's owner Allen said the horse is "unlikely" for the Travers. I haven't heard them talk about this or seen it reported anywhere. Anybody know any more about this?

Mike Joyce interviewed the owners of Mine That Bird becasue Mike is at Rudiso Downs today covering the ALL-American Futurity trials. The owners of Mine That Bird were there.

So did you see the interview? Did the owners say what would be next if he doesn't run in the Travers?

I didn't see it, but from what I can gather from reading other horse racing boards, Allen said that he was "leaning against" running MTB in the Travers. MTB will come back to Ruidoso to lead the post parade for the All American Futurity, and then they will prep him for the BC.

The Goodwood was mentioned, so there's a possibility that prepping for the BC might mean shipping to California for the Oak Tree meet.

That's all I was able to find, FWIW.
I bet on a horse at ten-to-one. It didn't come in until half-past five.
My horse was so late getting home, he tiptoed into the stable.

Fine by me, I'd like to see him run twice out here.

I hope he rest because can you imagine if the dirt kicked up and he inhaled that on his throat that was just operated on?

Instead of that dirt getting stuck in his mouth it would have ended up in his lungs with this new operation.
