OK. I thought that a negative show pool meant that all horses in the money paid $2.10 to show. I noticed in the recent Zenyatta stakes race that the show horse paid $5.20.

What am I not understanding here?

If you bet Zenyatta to show then you're going to get back $2.10. That's why you bet to win.
