Kudos to Bobby Flay

For is call in the 8th at Saratoga sunday, Way to live the dream Bobby! That was pretty good for a pilgrim and it took some guts, I like the humor and the nervous laugh at the end.

He was great and isn't it nice to see someone like Bobby Flay love this sport so much? Makes me feel almost normal.

Almost normal. I like it!

It is nice to see a "celebrity" who loves the sport and can bring some attention to it. But, in a way, it's a little sad (to me) that Bobby Flay is one of the few celebrities that shows up on a regular basis anymore.

Ah, for the days of Ricky and Lucy and Hollywood's glamourati. Heck, I even miss the days of Hammer and his entourage.
I bet on a horse at ten-to-one. It didn't come in until half-past five.
My horse was so late getting home, he tiptoed into the stable.

Good race calling isn't easy. Kudos to him for giving it a try!

It took guts to call that 30-1 longshot as a winner in the photo. 8-)

I suspect fans of Law & Order spinoff Special Victims Unit would have preferred to have had his wife call the race (Flay's wife is Stephanie March, who played the much beloved Assistant DA/Bureau Chief Alexandra Cabot on "SVU" from 2000-'03 and on Conviction in 2006 before reprising the role on "SVU" earlier this year and will again in the fall).

You guys cannot be serious.

I like his involvement in horse racing, and his passion, but that call was HORRENDOUS.

"Pretty good for a pilgrim", is not exactly a raging endorsement for his talent. Compared to Tom, Vic or Trevor, you're right, it wasn't very good, Compared to me, you, whoever, it was'nt that bad. It's MUCH harder to call a race than people think. The Kudos were for the try.

Yep, it's hard for a newcomer to call a race.

And, yep, Bobby Flay proved it.

As lame-azz promotions go, gimme Del Mar's "Cougar" every day of the week and twice, maybe three times, on Sunday.

Something I know firsthand from a December night in 1983 at the late Roosevelt Raceway (in Westbury, NY for those who don't know) when there were problems with the PA system and from the stands I actually called the first two races. It really is not that easy, even on a half-mile harness track like Roosevelt was.
