First and foremost, there is no chance in hell that Shireffs and Moss are going to take Mikey off Zenyatta. He's been the pilot since the Apple Blossom in 08 and he'll be the pilot until she starts poppin' out babes. Mikey is on top of all of the Moss' best horses and that ain't gonna change folks...

Second, I've read a lot of "unimpressed" posts about her race yesterday. Many folks have commented on the times in the last 2 furlongs...she was absolutely flying...and, doing so being swung 7 or 8 wide while closing into slow fractions. If that doesn't impress you...well, ...yeah...that was simply good drama...when a Blockbuster film ends like that, we stand and applaud! Remember when Jordan used to pull the trigger in NBA Chamionship games at the buzzer...yep, that's what that was...a horse that can do whatever she wants...however she wants...when she wants...

I think they should change riders, just think how good she would be with a guy like Borail who saved all the ground with her. She moves up 10 lengths with a real rider.

So, totally change her running style & preferred positioning?

I think she actually needed a rider in that race and Mike came through. Maybe Joy Scott couldn't have won this one. Shades of Cigar / Bailey.

I also think she better quit these mile and a sixteenth races. That's why I 'wasted' some money putting her second in a few bets this time.

Agreed 100%. It was amazing to witness in person. I didn't think it possible she would get up (but had faith that she would) and she did -- just a wow moment. And the crowd at Del Mar was duly impressed. Unfortunately some don't want to admit greatness even when it stares them in the face.

I don't understand some of these comments. It's been suggested that Zenyatta change riders. Why? Hasn't Mike ridden her in all her races and hasn't she won all her races? Doesn't he know this mare better than anyone, and doesn't he have a great working relationship with the connections? If it ain't broke, don't fix it. The idea is to be the first runner to get from point A to point B. Being the kind of runner Zenyatta is, she is not going to win by more than a few lengths at the most.

I also wanted to say that if there are those here who have the inclination to criticize the jockey for his ride, that is their business. My post said: "I" won't criticize the rider, because "I" am not a rider..." I think the key word there is "I" and I was talking about myself, and what I feel I can say and not say. Perhaps some of you who do critique Mike have ridden racehorses in races, or perhaps even if you haven't, you know significantly more about the sport than I do. My knowledge is still what I'd consider just above basic. I don't want to "talk the talk" because I haven't "walked the walk."

I acknowledge greatness anytime I see it, and that's what I did while watching the Haskell last weekend. I'll acknowledge yesterday was "fun, or breathtaking, or suspenseful or exciting" which it was, but I certainly wouldn't use "greatness". Just my opinion.

Mike sucks, just peruse the internet and you will find out for yourself, he hinders all horses and they all would be better with someone else....get with the program.

While I respect your opinion I'll also respectfully disagree. What she has done in her career is (at least for me) something great. If nothing else name one horse who has won EVERY race she has ever run from dead last (twelve consecutive times) without a loss -- none in recent memory for me. I have been following these amazing animals for more than 30 years and (at least in person) I have never seen a runner who possesses what she does -- ok I'm done. :)
