Hollywood won't be closing at the end of the year, and doubtfully at the end of next year.
We are in a recession....who's going to give the loan for that major project.
I understand the same company that owns Hollywood, Bay Meadows Reality had Bay Meadows torn down and the last I heard the property was just sitting there in all the rubble....they were unable to pay to even have it cleared away.
That's in San Mateo.....a nice area.......who in their right mind would build in the depressed area of Inglewood, under the direct flight of all the air traffic, and that's the least of the problems.
No way. I'm over 60 years old and I will be surprised to see Hollywood close in my lifetime, unless the economy really picks up. Even then, their plans for Hollwyood Park are crazy.
Now if a big company such as Fed Ex or the likes were to buy the property and make it a big general headquarters, perfect....right near LAX, unless something like that happens.....I'll believe it when I see it, not read it.
The last I heard was that Christopher "Blue" Meany and the rest of Wilson Meany Sullivan, the developers, are still looking for financial backing/loans for the project.
I cannot believe that any investors would be stupid enough to pour $2 billion into developing "the heart of Inglewood", but then again, (to borrow from H. L. Mencken) nobody ever went broke underestimating the stupidity of financial "experts" (or City Councils).
As Glen Craven wrote, "Hollywood Park Tomorrow" translates to "To Hell With Hollywood Park" .

I bet on a horse at ten-to-one. It didn't come in until half-past five.
My horse was so late getting home, he tiptoed into the stable.

understood for fall but I have been informed by several executives at HP that they will 99% be open thru spring meet..we will see.
So Cal racing is in big trouble without another track to replace HP. I do not know what the CHRB is waiting for. SA, Del Mar and the fair will NOT be able to replace all of the HP dates. not to mention the extra dates will trash the surfaces
I got back to the person and asked him and this is what he told me...
"My sister's husband works there.
I don't think they've made it public yet."
