Man Am I Glad the DMTC Fan-Forum is back, albeit under a different name. Nevertheless Its Back & I'm so Happy & Grateful that It's Back. Thanks to the Powers that Be @ Del Mar for bringing It Back, For Certain, It was Greatly Missed.

Now that I'm ready to brag about something, you come back. I missed greatly the forum and the members. But we have Del Mar coming soon, the Arlington Million, the United Nations, the Breeders Cup Prep races and International racing. But I still live in purgatory so this is my only escape. Guess who wrote Opinion 2.

Legislatures, politicians and bureaucrats cannot stop until they have implemented policies for raising monies as seen in the neighboring 49 states. "We have to have an EDUCATION lottery. We have to have a Turnpike Authority. We have to have toll roads. We have to allow casinos on Native American reservations." Next it will be betting on the horses, trying to confuse the population by adding the word parimutuel. Next it will be state-owned liquor stores open 24 hours, to increase traffic and tax revenue generated. Next it will be dog tracks. Next it will be riverboat gambling. Heck fire, some states have casinos wherever they want: "It will be GREAT for Raleigh's "downtown revitalization" to have a casino for our visitors." Next it will be following California's discussion of legalizing illegal drugs for the taxes that will be generated. Soon some politician will say "that Nevada has legalized brothels. Maybe NC should have them - look at the money we're missing out on." It is a never-ending process, and I for one see society headed down hill. It's a slippery slope, indeed.

Opinion 2
Imagine if you will a North Carolina native that has traveled the world. He returns home knowing that it is illegal to gamble in this state. His hobby, his passion is selecting winners in thoroughbred horse races. He enjoys watching the limited number of horse racing events that are shown throughout the nation on affiliate stations. But the one thing he can not do legally is make a wager on the outcome of these events.Imagine if you will living in this kind of purgatory. Sure I've visited New York, Virginia, and Florida on occassion to make wagers. But on a day to day basis, my hobby and passion go unfullfilled because I can not make a monetary return on my mind wagers. My library won't even allow me to research horse racing on their computers because of the illegality of gambling in this state. Again the Kentucky Derby has gone without me being able to wager. The Preakness is nearing and I can't make a wager. The Belmont, The Arlington Million, The Breeders Cup are having their prep races now. Will I still be living in this purgatory at year end. Since 1988 being back home my life has been a constant horror of watching the results of races that I may have been able to make a winning wager. I am a walking zombie in the purgatory of my own making by living back in North Carolina.

I just wanted to give a shout out to you TurfRuler and Skipaway, fellow North Carolinians. I am also, for the time being, in dreaded NC. It is nice to know there are some others on here that are in the same boat I'm in. Hopefully things will change but knowing my luck, it will be the day I move out.
