Sluggo when the horse wins another graded race please feel free to bring this post up, much like I did the AZ Cardinal's thread of a year ago.[/quote]

One more thing, someone needs to listen to the horse when they are riding and let him be. He climbed the darn track.

Not sure exactly what that means but about the only way I'd ever bet on him might be in a G3 at Thistledown.

Anyone who ever mentioned MTB and HOY should be banned from commenting on horse racing. I totally agree with X. Yes he won the Derby, he was 50-1 for a reason. As I said before dont be surprised if this horse never wins another a graded stakes. He might have to go back to SP or Eskimo land to take down a Grade 3. One trick ponies dont win graded stakes very often. I normally dont judge a 3 yr old crop till the following year but I feel this current crop that is running is one of the worst of the last 20 yrs. Excluding Rachel, she is a freak. There were some solid 3 yr olds but they were all hit with injuries. So now what we'll see are these glorified allowance horses taking turns beating up on each other for the rest of 2009.

He was 5-6 lengths off the pace @ 46.2. Not blistering by no means. And couldnt catch a glorified allowance field. If he doesnt hit the board in the Travers who we gonna blame? The jockey, the trainer, the track, too many horses? This horse has Giacamo written all over him.

Has anyone ever heard of a prep race. It is his first race in a while. You can say it was a bad crop of 3 year olds but he crushed in the derby and ran 2nd to maybe the best horse in the planet in RA. so saying the horse is a fraud is a joke.

See some serious parallels between Colonel John and MTB. Last year in the Swaps, CJ could only muster third giving up big poundage, then scored in the Travers. Thinking MTB is strictly the one to beat in this years Travers if he works well into the race. BBB

Good post and the Travers is the goal. It's a furlong farther to, which MTB may like better.

I don't think the owners went into it only as a prep and you could tell by what the trainer said. Now like he said he might be tigther in the Travers and what are the chances he gets mud again?

I can't compare CJ and MTB in any shape or form though, different size, different styles, diffent owner mentality and that Swaps last year was a tougher race than it appeared as Two Step Salsa and Tres Barrachos have come back and proven themselves.
