I think Ramon Dominguez should be the chalk. Ya' think Kent D can get in the exacta? The usual suspects won't be getting 350 rides, and Kent's 21%-winners form could play well.
Thank God for the Federal Reserve. You can't have big government or big wars without them.

Its quite amazing the way Ramon Dominguez has quietly taken over as the Top Jockey in NY after just his first meet of full-time riding in NY. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out at Saratoga, as outfits like Pletcher, Asmussen & Mott who typically go all out to Win @ Toga usually give first call to their stable riders.

If Ramon can break the "# of Wins Record" at Belmont, then for sure he has the ability to do it at Saratoga, but like you, I'm concerned about the prices he's going to be going off at. I certainly dont want to see Ramon's mounts automatically becoming the Post Time-Fav just because Ramon is riding like it happened frequently at Delaware Park.

The key is, it seems to me that Ramon will want to do everything he can to Win the Saratoga Jockey Title this meet, to prove his winning the Belmont Jockey Title was no fluke. My prediction Ramon & Johnny Velasquez fight it out until the last week with Ramon edging Johnny-V by about 3-4 Wins.

Garcia and Leparoux will get many live mounts--lot of wild card jocks there too on that list--very competitive

You won't have to worry too much about prices on Ramon, there are going to be tons of full fields with high profile jocks and trainers. If Pletcher and Mott rebound with big meets he will have a tough time winning the jockey title, but his agent Steve Rushing does an incredible job getting him live mounts with a large variety of barns. If Rushing can steal a few mounts from barns like Asmussen, Tagg, Maker & Ward, that could make the difference.

It could be a four or five way photo for top jock. Ramon, Garcia, Johnny V., Kent (If Mott pops), Edgar.

What makes Rushing/Ramon all that more impressive is they dont have a "go to" barn. Garcia has McLaughlin, Kent has Mott, Johnny V has Pletcher.

I think Ramon is the best rider in a tight race in NY, Steve wins the agent race by a pole.
