Beckron:

The QUARTERS guys really are great, aren't they? Mike Joyce, Dave Weaver, and Les Onaka are FREAKING MONEY.

Easy to listen to, funny, and great info.......too bad they can't shift their tack to Del Mar for a week or two. Oh well.

Easy to listen to, funny, and great info...... Totally agree with Beckron. These guys are no nonsense, great handicappers,
no one works harder than Les Onaka. Onaka works past 11 pm each night and is back at the track the following morning for
morning workouts. You can add track announcer Ed Burgart to that list as he filled in admirably for Vic a couple of Sundays ago.

TVG had Kayla Stra on Thursday in the early part of the card. She gave out some good info, & I'd rather look & listen to her than Todd or Simon.

Ed Burgart used to hang out occasionally in the old Forum.

You know on Sunday nights after the California card is over, even if I'm not betting, I leave the Quarters guys on because they are hilarious. I like their intelligence and their appreciation of the viewer's intelligence, dry wit, their shots at each other. It's just comfortable.

Todd, Frank and Bryan Cox is still my fave. trio of all time. Since no more Bryan Cox, give me Paul L. or Matty C. with those two.

And Christina O is really the best when it comes to pre and post race interviews. Continued good work to her.

Since you mentioned Frank, I've been wondering what happened to him. I haven't seen him for a long time. Where did he go?

They showed Frnak eating dinner at Hollywood on their 10th anniversary and said he just got back from Ireland. Why he's not back on TVG I'm not sure.

I love the Quarters, of course, since we have running QH's that adds to it, but I think the guys, Dave, Mike and Les are wonderful. Not only do they love QH racing, they, unlike some, do not take themselves to seriously. They love QH racing, and you can tell its genuine and not just a stop over till they get to work Hollywood, Santa Anita or Del Mar.

As I've stated before, TVG is, pure and simple, a 24-hour infomercial. (Kind of a shame, but you get what you pay for and I don't pay much.)

The only time you don't have to keep your finger poised over the mute button is during Los Alamitos, when Mike Joyce is teamed with the dude from the Sonic commercial.

Here's what's up. They keep playing him up because there are people out there that really didn't watch Paul's career with the then, mediocre LA Dodgers and later, Florida Marlins. They have to keep repeating who he is so people will say, "Oh, so he's a former athlete...now I know where they dug him up from." They also kiss up to him so they can get a bunch of free tickets, signed memorabilia, etc.

Did you catch Paul on his first day of broadcasting. On air asking kindly to be invited back. Guess he won't be coaching Russell Martin anytime soon.
