Condensed Trip Report

Am I the only one who managed to get out of bed this morning?

Left OC around 9:30am, had no traffic whatsoever. After a stop or two, I got to Del Mar around 10:45am. Secured a prime parking spot in the little dirt lot next to the open-air sewer behind the valet lot. Got in line at the clubhouse entrance with about 300 other folks. Despite the crowd, I was still able to secure a table on the third floor overlooking the paddock.

Spent the rest of the morning walking around and gawking at the sundresses and hats (but mostly the sundresses). Since it was just me and a buddy at this big table, we had no trouble finding people who were willing to share the table with us. We decided on Cindy, Donna, Donna's daughter (Megan?) who looks just like Kate Hudson, and various other hangers-on that came and went as the day progressed.

I hit several winners and my buddy hit the P4. tried to go out to dinner, but everyplace was packed.

I know I give Del Mar a lot of heat for different things, but yesterday was amazing. One of the best times I've ever had at the races.
