Gonzalez sustained a mild concussion and bruising to his left knee when his mount, Dianne Do, crashed through the inner turf rail. Dianne Do was leading the field in the one-mile turf race when she bolted just after turning into the backstretch.
Dianne Do - after getting rid of Gonzalez - frolicked in the infield and even took a dip in one of the ponds before allowing handlers to catch her. The 4-year-old filly appeared to come out of her adventure unscathed.
Gonzalez was taken to Alta Bates Hospital for precautionary X-rays, which were negative. Gonzalez hopes to be back in the saddle when racing resumes Wednesday at Golden Gate Fields. Post time is 12:45 p.m.
