In every aspect of human relationship, whether it be with friends, family, or business partners, our attentions, devotion, and efforts, are all relevant. Every one that is important to us. or who deems us important to them, notices our attentions or indifference.
If we form a business partnership and our partner suddenly starts with new ventures, one is likely to feel cheated. There is only so many hours in the day, so much attention to give to our business matters.. If I do better for one of my children than the others, or if it's perceived that I'm favoring one over the others, the others are going to feel slighted. That's not a guess.. it's a fact. I certainly would never suggest to my wife that I need somebody else too.. "Don't worry baby, I'll still take good care of you." It won't fly... Her pride is hurt.. She may buy it for a month or two, until she figures where she is going to move next - after she gets rid of me..
And that's about how long it took for Rosario and Garcia to leave Vic.. after he added another rider .. a couple of months. From the very first minute, they didn't like it. They simply didn't want their agent celebrating the skills and achievements of another rider..
These are men competing in a very tough environment.. They can't say to Vic.. I want you to only care about me.. I want your efforts at the racetrack to be about me.. Heterosexual men do not talk like that to other men. "Sure Vic, it's ok, hire the other guy.. I know you will still do great for me" is what they say, but not what they mean. In any relationship, there are certain things that go unspoken. The attention and devotion these men need is no secret. They are not being selfish.. They want only what all of us want from our partners and family. Devotion. The best of our attentions.
My first wife got rid of me for the very same reasons. I thought I had a happy marriage. Everything seemed good. Everybody thought we were happy. I thought we were happy.. But then one day, she screamed at me, "I don't want to hear another f***ing word about your horses." Wow! Where did that come from? We worked it out for a year or so, but I didn't change. One year later my family was gone. I was left with a "Dear Husband - Goodbye," letter. It said, "My lawyer will be calling you at 9am." I was living a fantasy. I thought that because we had money and friends, and good living conditions, that my wife was happy too.. But those things meant little or nothing to my wife.. It was my lack of attentiveness and devotion to her that mattered. Simply put, she wondered every day if the horses were more important to me than she was... She couldn't live with it... And so it is with Rosario and Garcia..
Listening to Vic say, "I don't know why I was fired", not once, but twice, is the proverbial ostrich with his head in the sand..
And Vic.. I know you read here.. I don't think its a good thing at all for you to convey Martin's personal/emotional state as he talks to you. You embarrass him by doing so.. You think he doesn't know what you said here and in the other forums you write in? If he doesn't read it.. somebody is going to tell him! Your communications in that regard should be private.. You wrote something in a very similar vein about Rosario after he left you.. as if to subtly embarrass him for firing you.
I hope you can find it within yourself to own up to what happened. You let those men down.. as I let my first wife down. Don't blame it on them.. It's not about money and winners.. It's about you..
"Heterosexual men do not talk like that to other men" That had me laughing for a few minutes....nice one

When I employed an agent I didnt care if he or she had two riders because I knew my work ethic and ability to bring winners home carried me . I didnt care if his other rider rode my second call and I didnt care if I rode theirs. It just didnt matter to me. I know one time my agents other rider asked him why he wasnt riding the same amount of horses I was and he told him flat out , because she is here everyday when the track opens and doesnt leave till it closes , she gets on just as many in the morning as she rides in the afternoon. Any jockey who is too scared to have their agent hustle for two people has some real confidence problems and needs to really look at themselves in the mirror.
I don't blame Garcia or Rosario, you hire Agents to look out for ME, ME, ME, and ONLY ME, that way you just concentrate on riding, in a colony of 4 and 5 horse fields, having multiple riders is walking a tightrope, it's like a mommy bird trying to shove a beetle down every little hungry mouth, each time she returns, someones going to go hungry, simple as that.
I dont agree and that is ok.
how many jockey agents are at SA and soon to be at HP?
is there a lot of competition and the things that go with competionion, kosher or not?
can see where two jocks with one agent might not work, but unless rosario and garcia
say thats the reason, do we really know?
Condition book one at HP is out and it is always interesting to the have the first hard copy of the book and the last to see all the changes through a long meet.
