I don't think you're necessarily doing anything wrong, it is just rare that an agent can rep two jocks succcessfully. In fact, for years I think it wasn't allowed -- an agent could have 1 jock and 1 apprentice, but not two seasoned riders. Each jockey has an ego, and somewhat understandably wants an agent working 100% for them. If you have two, and put one into a new barn, or on a new horse, the other one probably feels "why wasn't that me" even if the barn specifically asked for one of them, it wasn't a sales job by you.
Just my opinion, but you'll be happier and hair will turn less gray if you only rep one. And Tyler is certainly strong enough to keep you busy.
It's essential human nature. Vic should already know this. Did you notice that neither rider would come right out and say they want the entirety of Vic's efforts devoted only to them. No man wants to say those words to another man.. That's the nature of the male..
I think Joel was particularly ticked when Martin won the SA Handicap on Misremembered. Vic had put Joel on the post time favorite, St Trinians, and I
believe if anyone had a beef it should have been Victor Espinoza who had ridden the winner in most of his starts. Some people have speculated that
Victor intentionally tightened up on Lookin' at Lucky in the SA Derby to get back at Baffert. I don't subscribe to that theory.
