Re: Shapiro has second thoughts about SyntheticsToo bad he didn't have these concerns "before" shoving synthetics down everyone's throats here in California -- but that would have required some common sense -- something sorely lacking amongst thoroughbred horse racing's leadership in our (once) great state.

Re: Shapiro has second thoughts about SyntheticsIt's interesting how Shapiro points the finger at Baffert -- like it was Baffert who spurred (no pun intended) the move to synthetics. Shapiro doesn't mention all the behind the scenes dealing with Martin Collins and the Keeneland/Turfway cadre who all thought they were going to get rich off synthetics.
Where are synthetics today? There are a few piles of the junk laying around at the few tracks that installed it. That's about it. It's deader than 4:00 AM in Palookaville. If Billy Mays was still alive I don't think even he would be foolish enough to try to sell it to anyone.
