Gomez has left for his usual trek to Keeneland, M.C. Baze is on his way to Arlington Park for the summer..
Now, two mainstays of the local jockey colony, Alex Solis and Jose Valdivia, Jr. are reportedly leaving as well..
Solis is supposedly on his way to Churchill Downs when the Santa Anita meet ends, while Valdivia is going to ply his trade at Philadelphia Park...
Less jocks for less horses...how about less days of racing?
i like that valdez kid. guess cause he rode a couple winners for me.
still a number of good to servicable jocks, no? prolly be 5 horse fields anyway.
Amador won on both Saturday & Sunday, & Valdez took a couple on Sunday. Now's the time to jump on them as they're still not recognized, aka confident names for the casual racegoer.
If wishes were horses then beggars would ride-
& If dirt were dollars we'd all be in the black
I can't understand Solis going to Churchill with that already established colony in place. Is Patrick Gallagher shipping there? I guess a change
in scenery can't hurt as horsemen and fans have soured on him. He really has not been the same since that spill at Del Mar a few years ago.
Could be that he and McPeek clicked and he'll use him. McPeek usually splits his horses between Albarado and Desormeaux but he got more riders involved this winter at GP so he could be broadening his horizons.
If the CD colony has Leparoux, Albarado, Desormeaux, and Gomez then it's going to be a tough meet for anyone else.
LOL! Garrett Gomez is the current leader at Keeneland despite missing the first 3 days, he's riding at 30% with less than half the mounts of #2 Julien Leparoux, who was it who used to come on here and knock our California riders?
