Chat about horses, racing, and the industry.
What an utterly useless piece of information.
Comparing raw final times from different days, years, track conditions, with different pace scenarios and different surfaces (synth vs. dirt!) is about as horrendous a way to analyze horses as I've ever seen.
That's how pars are made, friend. By compiling data from the various classes and distances, per age, per track.
Variants are a result of pars.. Does Beyer make or use variants, or his he using raw times? You don't have to answer that one.. I already know.
I'm no great proponent of Beyers but you know that the race itself stacked against the rest of the card and the par for that meet are big factors. The fact that Eskendereya ran the 18th slowest Wood of the last 20 means nothing when there were years where the track was exceptionally fast (1999 when Artax went 1:20 for 7 furlongs) and exceptionally slow (2006 when Bob and John won in a mud-fest).
Does Beyer take into consideration the final times of the last 20 runnings of the Wood when calculating Eskendereya's latest figure? You don't have to answer that one.. I already know.
