I watched all three 3yo prep races Saturday & imho LookinatLucky was the most impressive. I say this because he overcame trouble on the backstretch & dug in in the stretch drive to Win over a tough opponent.
Sydney's Candy was 2nd most impressive as he was allowed to cruise to an easy perhaps too easy lead for the 1st 3/4's, but he showed renewed tenacity and actually quickened in his last 3/16th's to show he is a top contender for the Santa Anita Derby. However one must be realistic and acknowledge that there will be no such thing as getting such an easy lead in the Ky-Derby, so similar tactics will almost definitely be foiled. Still if the goal is the SA Derby then Sydney's Candy is a strong contender based on this race today.
In the Tampa Derby Odysseus proved he's no fluke. but the slow final time with three horses bunched together at the wire probably indicates this was not exactly the strongest of race fields. Still Odysseus could be a nice underneath play in the Ky-Derby similar to Musket Man last year in the Tri-Crown who came out of the Tampa Derby.
