Already heard from Calvin, who says he was following poor race instructions. Anything else?
"The bill approved in Congress to avert the so-called fiscal cliff would bring the first major tax increase on high earners in 20 years."
Wall Street Journal, Jan 2nd 2013
That's a good way to get himself fired... but then again, Jackson might have told him to say it...
What I want to say about Looking at Lucky, Misremembered, Zardana, Freedom Star, Conveyance and the other Western "synthetic horses" who have shipped recently to dirt courses and won.. They will run on dirt.. They will also run on marshmallows if you ask them too. They are all bred to be racehorses.. And that's what they are..
I hate the thought that Zenyatta is not appreciated by some racing fans because she runs on synthetics. There are figuratively hundreds of threads throughout the internet forums encouraging that point of view.. When she dominated on dirt and beat a champion, they ignored it and continued to label her a synthetic specialist. For what purpose? Because they couldn't figure out how to handicap on synthetics? Because their speed numbers sucked? Last year's Kentucky Derby favorite, I Want Revenge, was initially demeaned for the same reasons.. But then he smoked them on dirt.. There are hundreds of posts on the other forum about how Lookin at Lucky will be revealed as a bum when he runs on real dirt..These players will invent facts.. They will continue in that same manner, minimizing Looking at Lucky's great athletic skills as we go forward...
Racing has become like politics now.. It's ugly.. You would think that when a horse like Zenyatta comes along, everybody would embrace her.. But it hasn't been that way.. We have very few real fans anymore.. These old men posting can't sustain racing.. They aren't interested in these horses.. They're only interested in themselves and their own narrow points of view..
A GREAT horse can run on anything...dirt, dryer lint, grass, shards of glass, asphalt sealed tracks.....and at any distance....no excuses.
Seems to me that our West Coast SYNTHETIC horses translate VERY well to dirt ... Hopefully the East Coast will keep refusing to see that and allow the odds of Looking At Lucky and company to stay higher than they should be
I'd LOVE to see Zardana build on her win ...
These races today were tune ups or preps for bigger and better races down the line. Neither of the horses were in top condition for their races.
I admit I thought Rachel should have won despite her lack of activity or fitness but that's horse racing. Zenyatta was her usual impressive self
although she beat such a crap field that a 50-1 shot ran second.
