Great re-rally by Odysseus to win the G3 Tampa Bay Derby today. Not sure if he can run much farther than 1 1/16 miles, but this colt has talent.
BTW - terrible race call by Richard Grunder (who said on the far turn that Odysseus will have to fight another day). Terrible call in a thrilling race.
Agree with the race call - that was one of the worst I've heard. Announcers, unless you're Trevor, should be very careful when they "analyze" a race during its running.
Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.

I was impressed by Odysseus, plus he has a Derby-worthy name. It would look good on a green sign at Churchill Downs.

Well he either won loss or dead-heat, i don't get his comments Ody ran a huge re-surging comeback the effort you need to be a champ! read this.... http://www.tampabay.com/sports/parimutu ... 079724.ece
Still waiting to see this photo. Schoolyard Dreams was the overlay in the race and my only bet. I was on my way to the windows to collect when I looked up and saw the 7 in the winner's circle.

Pat: Your comments and assessment are spot on, as usual. I am sure you are correct about Odysseus and his distance limitations.
However, Moonwalker's comment ALMOST made me spit out my coffee. I SO AGREE with the line of thinking regarding the name of a horse, and how it would look compared to others. Of course, with Fu Peg, and Lil E Tee ruining the trend, it's not a perfect system.
Odysseus has to win the Derby this year. It's a mortal lock, and when I win, I will come back to this thread and thank Moonwalker for reminding me of the "name" angle. It works.
