look at the webcam on santa anita web site...I called and suggested they tarp the track ,well they listened partly, they tarped the portion after the finish line....jeff siegel said it best ,it isn't the surface ,you can put whatever you want ...its the drainage that was done wrong...they need to go down to the bottom and find out why the drainage is failing ...yesterday GG had rain almost allday and you could hardly tell it was raining...why because the drainage WORKED...also if SA was interested in saving racing days they would have tarped the whole track it has to be less expensive than cancelling cards all the time especially since most of the rain happens at night ...well who knows but some executives need to be fired ....
And it's starting to come down here pretty good again.........
Considering the first time they tried to give out those beer buckets SA got rained out, if they had rescheduled for today & with racing cancelled, I might think those things are cursed & get rid of `em.
If wishes were horses then beggars would ride-
& If dirt were dollars we'd all be in the black
Of course, this leads to the cancellation of the Magna 5...pretty frustrating, seeing as how I hit it last week. They could have substituted in races from GP and GG...but that, of course, makes sense, which is apparently against the Magna bylaws. And that's why their stock is worth 15 cents.
I enjoy horse racing, but I am really just a casual fan. I watch TVG and HRTV, but I don't do very much in the way of betting. That being said, I realize the CHRB mandated synthetics be put down at the major tracks, but couldn't there have been studies done to find the best overall synthetic surface (if there is such a thing)? Golden Gate doesn't seem to have many issues (at least that I have heard about); HP has some issues; we all know about SA; what about Del Mar? Is the track available for training at this time of year, and if so, how does the Polytrack handle the weather? It just seems strange to me that the 4 major California tracks have 4 different surfaces to run on. Just wondering...
Fan forums are enjoyable. They are not life or death.
