http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/ ... s-are-sold
There was over 99 comments on Bloodhorse about this. This is cruel to say the least. Same kind of people would send a horse to slaughter to me.
Did you read my comment??
Did you see the pictures of Desert Stormer and her Bernardini colt, who was born the day before her turn at the auction. She did not seem to be in distress, her colt got a little upset because they were going to carry him to the sale. So they let him walk over with his Mom.
I think what they do across the pond is much more civil, e.g., if the mare is within a month of foaling she goes through the sale in absentia. But for the time being they don't do that here.
If it upsets you so much write to the auction houses and let them know your feelings.
I resent your statement that if I see nothing wrong with the situation I am for horse slaughter.
Do you belong to PETA . . . . . . or are you just over-reacting like most of the comments on that blog ???

I don't understand the uproar. Were any horses hurt in this endeavor?
What was the problem? That they sold a mare right after she foaled or that they brought the baby into the sales ring?
What's the big deal? In the wild, foals are up and about immediately. The folks at the sale aren't going to do anything to harm the animals - they are trying to sell them for as much as possible. It's in everyone's best interest to treat them right.

ah t, I don't believe I was directly speaking to anyone on this forum. I felt in my heart and my sick stomach this was wrong. My Gut told me instantly. It happened like that with more than just me. What the heck is wrong with giving mother and baby time off instead of dragging or carry up a newborn to the ring with a mom who just had her. Its wrong in most peoples eyes. What is the big rush anyway. And Just because I stick up for the animals does not mean the word PETA has to be thrown in my face every-time. I also don't believe I am "over" reacting either.
